FilesFM (Win/Linux) link is dead. Might not matter much if you're close to the 0.5 release, just thought I'd toss it out there.

The links here aren't managed by me. You can get the latest version over at my GDrive upload in the Substar page :)

Not a lot new in 0.4 (though there still is), 0.3 was the one focused on the girls. Aand the upcoming update as well!
Considering you didn't play through the sandbox, there's plenty of scenes with the family girls. Though, mostly teasing still :p

Nooooo!! Evil, evil man.

Going to see if I can hold out until 0.5 before playing. Teasing just gets me cranked up far too much...
Next version's actually gonna be "0.4.5". Although, it may as well be called a "0.5", since it's getting as big as the other ones...

And I can safely say things will be dialed up a notch or two.

Started a playthrough, and can't say it did anything for me (Sorry CR). The MC just isn't relatable, or realistic, and what I saw from the game is teasing the player to an all-new high. Can't get on-board with that, but good luck in your future development.

Edit: decided to continue playing based on the idea that the MC gets "more into it". I'll update my feedback later on. (y)

Can you say whether or not the next update will feature extensive story segments? I will be completely honest here.

The way the first part of the game was handled is nothing short of phenomenal. That really set my expectations sky high many months ago when I first played it. Sadly, after the game transitioned into sandbox I feel like the game fell off a cliff in terms of the pacing and coherency of the scenes and just how the different storylines are delivered to the player overall. That doesn't mean what was contained in the scenes wasn't good, but the way they are now being presented leaves much to be desired. I just don't know if they are to be considered parallel or consecutive.

I do not think the sandbox mechanic is inherently bad. It is a tool like any other and so can be used to great effect or misused and be a detriment to the project. In fact, a good chunk of my favorite games feature a sandbox as the main medium of content delivery. However those story/content segments, even though connect and delivered by the sandbox, were substantial on their own as opposed to feeling like what should have been one scene but split up into 4 pieces for the sake of the sandbox. The sandbox should facilitate the story, the story shouldn't be compromised to facilitate the sandbox. it just makes the game feel disjointed.

The chronological order and recency of events should also not be ambiguous. These may seem like small details but you can't have the player show up to a location and stuff happens without context that the player should have seen before that. I specifically remember this being an issue at restaurant? coffee shop? location I believe. It's been a while. I remember missing out on a whole event and was confused when the location seemed to have progressed and things were happening without justification or rather...a prerequisite event that would naturally lead up to what I was seeing.
Also the mini interactions around the house. I felt like I was checking them pointlessly every day at every time segment to see if there was anything new. That did not feel like good gameplay at all.

You did a fantastic job at telling the story in the first part of the game. Right now, it feels like a lot of it is needlessly split up and that is taking away from the impact the game could have.

I understand the worries about pacing you may have. I'll let you in on how I view things, however.

In my eyes, there is little distinction between "story segments that further the over-arching plot" and "story segments that further the relationship with important characters". They're both equally as important to me, even when one doesn't immediately develop the other.

Specially, of course, when the characters we're talking about are the core family, arguably the "main girls" of the game by a long-shot. This is a wincest porn game at the end of the day, so everything serves the purpose of developing these kinds of relationships first before all.

This means that: Any step taken to further uncover the mysteries of the world & locate the other Deadly Sins - they're just as important to me as, say, Nick making his Mom more comfortable with french-kissing. Lol.

I will say, however, that 0.4 focused on neither, and instead, spent time "developing the world" through lesser storylines involving less-important-characters. I also think that building this "filler" is important to make the world feel more lived in, as well as exploring other parts of Nick and the Lust Devil when applicable. The over-arching story can be good on its own, but I believe true excellence can only come when you truly care about the town and its denizens, after having spent so much time with them. This world-building part, however, is not as important to me as the other two points, and I can understand the pacing feeling glacial with that. I apologize for taking so long to deliver that update...!

On the topic of chronology, I try my best to keep up the consistency with many flag checks that change a few scenes minorly to fit with what the player might or might not have seen in that save. There are no restaurants in the game though, so I don't know what part you may be talking about :p (maybe it's the Coffee Shop?). I'll be glad to listen to feedback in order to fix inconsistencies like that.
In regards to your question about the progression of time - all events in the sandbox are meant to be absolutely parallel. If any storyline reaches a point where it needs other unrelated storylines to be on the "same page", I'm guessing progress will be gated until those conditions are met.

SO, finally, to answer your question: 0.4.5 will be an update exclusively dedicated to building up more of the relationship between the Haradas - not just Nick and the girls, but between the girls themselves too, to an extent. It will be a big leap in that front, but the relevance for the plot with the Sins will be near-zero.

0.5 will come after that - introducing the School as a navigatable location. That one will absolutely be focusing on the main plot, which I'm also very excited to get to.

Since developing this by myself has proven to be very challenging time-wise, I'll try to incorporate more of the main plot on future updates so that we can see more meaningful progress often. I guess that's because a major part of that side of the story are all located on the School, which isn't in the game yet! But soon will be, which should open doors to many new developments on those mysteries.

Thanks for the feedback, these are the posts I love responding to the most.

Thats...fine. They should be just as important as each other.

The problem, at least to me, is that because of how they had been delivered they feel like fodder events. Honestly the office building is my favorite setting in the game(the night scene with the chubby office girl is hawwt) apart from family house but even there I wish the events weren't so small. The content might be good and important to the overall setting...but they feel like fodder, in comparison to the caliber of delivery that was apparent in the initial portion of the game. I keep expecting a big exposition with a start, climax and end but it never happened. Just a bunch of short form events and all I was thinking is...what the hell happened between now and the first release. lmao. Why couldn't this have been presented as a whole story arc, unsegmented and free of interruption?

Yup its the coffee shop. The events there seem like they happen out of order. being able to do stuff at the counter before officially being employed or some other significant conversation. I actually missed a whole scene in the evening segment with the mother?. I dont know how but it just didnt feel right so I loaded an old save and did it again making sure I did the mother's content first and then I found the missing scene I was looking for in order for things to make sense.
Sorry if I am not specific with all the details. Like I said its been a while since I played it. Should have probably said something earlier but maybe I didnt wanna "shit on the game" just after an update or something like that.

I've played many sandboxes and situations like this are not uncommon. So now I am always on the alert, paying attention to how events happen, I hate when I have to order them myself for it to make chronological sense.

I see.
The way I'm structuring things is, the "major development points" for each plotline should happen when there's a level up event - something that pushes that story to the "next step", where everything changes someway and new events become available to replace the old ones. Of course, we haven't had that yet, so idk if this is the missing piece of the puzzle.
I believe it's inherently different to how kinetic novels go. Sandbox settings are populated by "fodder" because the player can do them however they want, so they can't be super impactful yet - only when coalescing into an event (in here, they're the ones with red exclamation marks in the map).

So, these storylines are meant to always be:
Event introducing it (Start) -> "Fodder" (Sandbox) -> Level Up Event (Conclusion/Next Start)
We have that in the Office when Nick learns about his blood, then interacting with the girls, but no level up event yet. Or the coffee shop, which follows the same idea, and so will the next storylines in the future.

Why couldn't this have been presented as a whole story arc, unsegmented and free of interruption?
So, you may be wondering why I haven't included these "level up" endings for the current storylines present in the game, even though all the content for their first level (in particular, Chloe and Karla) are present.

My idea was to have the level up events be followed, immediately, by the next set of sandbox scenes for the next level already. But of course, that would be a massive chunk of content, which means the level up can only be implemented when the update is meant to house the next level events already. Which ends up looking like this:

1725457844086.png

I've been debating myself on following through with this idea. Maybe, leaving out the endings of a level for a separate future update isn't very good for the pacing, so I'll probably change it so the update content matches the story arc for that level and includes the level-up event, even if it means we won't immediately have the next level scenes available after seeing that event.

BUT - there's another catch, of course. As I said before, these level up events are pivotal moments in the plot, and sometimes, they require other stories to move forward before they can make sense.

For instance - the Office lvl up event should increase the lust levels for Chloe, Karla and Michelle at once. But, Michelle's LVL1 story isn't fully complete yet, since we still have more developments from her in the Night Club, which isn't available at the moment. That means we can only get to this event once the Night Club is implemented, and Michelle's development is synced with what Chloe and Karla have already gone through.

I'm glad to hear feedback on this particular issue, though, since I never had another input over this specific thing before. I believe there are improvements to be made in order to smooth out the arcs in the future, so that we have these full cycles completed instead of chopping them up in a weird way.

being able to do stuff at the counter before officially being employed.
Hmm... Dunno what you're talking about. The intended behavior is for the coffee shop to be closed until you visit it at a time where the intro event is available, which will then open it up for you to work there (since, by the time you finish the intro, you're already basically employed there). If we're talking about missing that little Alice event where she says she's ready to work with you, that scene is just flavor really. Since it's an automatic event at the room where and when you click to go to work, in theory, you can't work there until you go through it first. Unless, of course, I missed something that shifted that line of events.

I missed a whole scene in the evening segment with the mother?
Oh yeah, I guess that one is on me.
That event is basically split in two halves, where the second half is only available after getting a certain amount of love with Tina (dunno if 50 or 100). If you don't meet the criteria, it'll default to the "first half ending" where you just walk away, where if you meet the criteria, you get to choose between that previous ending (leaving) or going further with the new half you didn't see yet. Maybe it could be fixed by forcing the player to go through the first version of the scene regardless of the love requirement, but I don't remember how severe that disconnect was.
